The Nisei Farmer– Memories of his time in a Japanese– American interment camp resurface for a Nisei Farmer in Northern California.

Morning Nancy– An elderly man tests the limits of his love when he takes care of his Alzheimer– stricken wife.

Shapes of Movement– An animated history of gymnastics around the world.

Heartbeat– A tale of grief so deep that it can warp a woman’s mind or steal a man’s soul.

Papercut– A claymation comedy that examines the question: Which is mightier, the sword or the pen? Or maybe something else?

You Can’t Get a Second Chance– A short film that examines the problems most people have when looking for employment.

True Friends– A young man’s best friend tries to help him get his life turned around, but his past comes back to haunt him.

Ascendancy– If you knew the true nature of humanity, would you ascend?

The Shith End– A woman’s life spins out of control after a chance meeting with a local plumber.

The War Effort– A mocumentary about the efforts of people to prove that they are the “most patriotic” after the events of 9/11.

Old Night– Animated story of a man who wades between recollection and reality to retrieve his love from the memories of an abandoned mansion.

Stairway to the Crescent– A little boy goes to the moon to play with his friends.

Yo Soy– A visual Valentine to a place nobody admits visiting.

La Primavera– The story of a young boy’s first love, his teacher.

Removal of Innocence– A story of two opposing soldiers during the Civil War.

Sunday Paper p. 2B– A tale of a young boy’s fascination with and attempts to travel into the future.

Crazy Checks– Story of young boy whose life has been full of bad choices who meets a girl that tries to help him.

The Bathroom Agreement– A civil rights rebellion of movie extras.

Triangle Square– A young man returns home for his father’s funeral and falls in love with his best friend’s sister.

The Path– A religion– based story of Jesus Christ’s love for all children.

Caged– A story about freedom, and the illusion of freedom.

The Anniversary– Story of a Buddhist monk who reflects on the death of his brother during Vietnam.

Meth: A dark world and deadly epidemic– Documentary that focuses on the social, criminal, psychological, and environmental and physical aspects of addiction.

Bowling Around: A short film depicting the virtues of coming to Manteca.

Exhibition Screening:  Academy Award Winner
Visas and Virtue– The Academy Award winning short film about Chiune Sugihara, the Japanese consul to Sweden during the 1930’s and 40’s. Against orders from his own government and at great personal risk, he granted over 2,000 Visas to Jewish families attempting to flee the Nazi onslaught. An amazing story based on a play by Tim Toyama, our guest speaker at the Screenwriting Symposium.

Sneak Preview:
Cactuses – The story of Simon, a 20-year old with a troubled past and an even worse future ahead of him. After ruining relationships with his friends and family he meets Mary Beth. She encourages him and tries to help him turn his life around as he continues to make bad choices. Watching Simon’s cycle of mistakes prompts you to ask the question: How many chances should you give a person before you give up on them? This film was produced through a partnership project between the mentor/tutoring program, Give Every Child A Chance, and the local digital cinema production company, Pocket Change Productions.
